3 Spring 2023 trends you’ll want in your closet
Well, we can feel it in the air: spring is here, and with it comes the desire of filling our closets with new and exciting pieces. As with any season, in order to achieve that chic look, it’s important to avoid being a fashion victim and weed out what simply doesn’t work for us (a.k.a. all denim looks, cargo pants, Y2K references…) and adopt the trends that can fit our style. Here are my favorite ones:
The color red
Red is set to be a major color trend for the season. It might not seem like it, but red is a versatile color that can be incorporated into any outfit, from head-to-toe looks to statement accessories and pinpointed details . Whether you choose a red dress for a special occasion or a pair of red trousers for a more casual look, this trendy color is perfect for adding a pop of color to your wardrobe.
Relaxed Tailoring
As more people embrace comfort and versatility in their clothing, designers are incorporating relaxed tailoring into their collections. It’s a nod to 90’s minimalism with a touch of laid-back, post-pandemic comfort. Think linen blazers, wide-leg trousers, vests and shirts that are both chic and understated. This trend offers a softer take on traditional tailoring, with pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Whether you're headed to the office or out for brunch with friends, relaxed tailoring is the perfect choice for a polished and effortless look. If you really want to be on trend, opy for neutral tones and organic materials like linen and silk.
Utilitarian (but make it safari)
We knew this was coming. 90’s and Y2K bring with them all of the utilitarian elements including cargo, bungee-jumping pants, technical fabrics, fastenings and zippers. If you want to blend fashion with function, and look trendy while doing it, this is your go-to. However, if like me you prefer a more stylish and sophisticated approach, might I suggest a safari twist? You still get the comfortable silhouettes and durable materials, but with the injection of khakis and beiges, more classic shapes and glamorous accessories, the final look is a little less masculine and, in my humble opinion, way more exciting!
